This has become my favorite for an elegant meal served with style.

Offers a variety of tasty dishes enjoyed by local families and visitors. A longtime favorite of Kauai!

***$$Duke's Canoe Club - Kalapaki Bay, Kauai
The "Barefoot Bar" is my favorite place for lunch or a drink with pupus. (Pictured above)
$$$Dinner upstairs is more upscale.

***$$Keoki's Paradise Restaurant and Bar - Poipu, Kauai
The romantic evening atmosphere makes you feel like you're on your honeymoon.

(Save room for a piece of Hula Pie at Duke's or Keoki's - Mmm!)

At Kilohana in Puhi, just south of Lihue. Lunch, dinner and Sunday Brunch menus.

Poipu's Sheraton Hotel offers elegant dining and a nightlife hotspot.

****$$$The Beach House Restaurant - Poipu - Koloa
Wonderful View! Reasonable prices for a special event dinner with excellent service.

****$$$$Cafe Hanalei at the Princeville Resort
Breathtaking view - worth the long drive to Princeville - breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Famous for their Sunday Champagne Brunch and Seafood Buffet.

****$$$$Roy's Restaurant - Poipu
World class cuisine. (Ask for a table in the front section.)

**$$The Grove Cafe at the Waimea Plantation Cottages.
The nicest restaurant on the West Side. Live music some nights.

***Plantation Gardens at the Kiahuna Plantation in Poipu - Kauai, Hawaii
Great tasting food, excellent ambiance, old plantation house style elegance. Highly recommend.
Walk the gardens before dinner!

**$$TomKats in Koloa Town on Kauai
A casual spot to catch lunch or dinner on your way to/from Poipu. $3 mai tais for Happy Hour 4-6pm.

**$$Pizzetta in Koloa Town on Kauai
A busy/fun Italian eatery in the middle of the Koloa Town boardwalk.

Lighthouse Bistro - Kilauea (Kong Lung Center)
A reader suggested we add this restaurant, saying it was excellent. I haven't tried it, but the menu looks good!

A favorite of locals and frequent old time visitors. Choose from inexpensive Japanese and American dishes, or from moderately priced Chef's Specials. Yum! This restaurant is very busy. The price of your meal includes soup, salad, entree, tea and dessert. Save room for pie. Yum Yum!

A favorite burger and shake spot enjoyed by locals and visitors alike. Eat outside or take your lunch to the beach.

In Kapaa Town (near Kale Imports/Yasuda Building) and also in Lihue on Kuhio Hwy.
Varied menu of Italian pasta, pizza, sandwiches, salads. Eat in the cafe or take out to eat on your lanai!

Great selection of tasty gourmet burgers. Go up top for an exquisite view!

Everything shrimp and a few other things as well. Very Tastyl!!!

**$ KCL (Korean, Chinese & Local) Barbecue
A favorite place to score some inexpensive but tasty food. Call ahead and pick up!

**$ Kokee Lodge
Surprisingly good! Stop here to on the way back from the lookout or before hitting the trails!

** Hanapepe Cafe
Open for breakfast and lunch daily, but dinner is only served on Friday nights.

***$ Hawaiian Classic Bakery
In Lihue Town - Truly wonderful for breakfast or lunch!

Excellent!

A local favorite for breakfast. Not fancy. Just good eating.

Nightlife...

Hukilau Lanai - in the Kauai Coast Resort (formerly Beachboy)
Very laid back place for pupus and drinks with live music.
Tradewinds - A South Seas Bar
Weekend Classic Rock and Blues - Dancing. This place gets hoppin!
This is our favorite casual nightspot! (Of course we can walk home from this one ;-)
The Point - Sheraton - Poipu
Popular place with the younger crowd - 30s
Amelia's in Princeville
Blues and Hawaiian Music on Weekends.
Hyatt Regency Kauai Resort & Spa - Restaurants & Lounges
One of Poipu's classiest places to spend an evening.

****Smith's Tropical Paradise - Luau and Polynesian Revue on Kauai
This is by far the BEST Luau on the island. The food is great.
The drinks are free flowing. The entertainment is spectacular.
Order tickets in advance - or stop by the shack on the north side of the river to get tickets.

What to wear out to dinner on Kauai...
Tropical Tantrum has women's and men's style clothing for casual dressy - just right for Kauai!
